A church dedicated to Saint George
The Church of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victory-Bearer was built in the Krasavitsa district of Zelenogorsk, in the Kurortny District of Saint Petersburg, with the blessing of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'.
A worship cross was placed at the building site on November 10, 2016. Construction began in April 2017. The foundation stone was blessed on October 21, 2017; domes with crosses were installed in the summer of 2018; and the first prayer service inside the church was held on December 12, 2019.
The church project was developed by the Rosengineering group under the direction of Svetlana Plotitsyna and Evgeny Denisov. Construction was funded by donations from Boris Rotenberg, and the works were carried out by EcoInzhStroy.
On May 6, 2021, the feast day of Saint George the Victory-Bearer, Metropolitan Varsonofy of Saint Petersburg and Ladoga consecrated the church and celebrated the Divine Liturgy there.
Granite reliefs of Archangels Michael and Gabriel are installed in niches near the northern entrance. Two eighty-year-old pine trees were preserved beside the church, and the surrounding area remains wooded. About two thousand residents live in Krasavitsa, including more than fifty young families with children.
