Icon of the Holy Great Martyr Anastasia, Deliverer from Bonds

People pray before this icon for those in prison and for freedom from destructive addictions, fear and other burdens that bind a person. Saint Anastasia secretly brought food, care and encouragement to Christians imprisoned for their faith.
The life of Saint Anastasia
Saint Anastasia lived in Rome in the late third and early fourth centuries. She received a Christian upbringing from her mother and her teacher, Saint Chrysogonus.
During the persecutions, Anastasia visited imprisoned Christians, brought them food, cared for the wounded and encouraged those preparing to suffer for their faith. This ministry is remembered in her title, Deliverer from Bonds.
She was arrested for confessing Christ and suffered martyrdom. The Great Martyr Anastasia is commemorated on January 4.
